Level The Playing Field For Us To Take Kumkum Bagya Off Our TV Screens – Kukesi Movie Director

Director of the much anticipated movie titled Kukesi which is expected to be premiered on the 3 rd of
November 2018 at the Global Cinemas in Weija emotionally appealed to law makers of our movie
industry to create a level playing field for Ghanaian movie makers to be able to compete with film
makers across the world in other to bridge the gap in local contents.
Director Lucky Evergreen Erhaze explained further saying ‘’ The level ground is not smooth for us, law
makers and authorities can help bridge this gap by supporting us the local film makers with funding
opportunities, technical support, tactical policies to augment directors effort in making films”. He stated
clearly that the most basic identities of our local movies include our language, which has been sold
cheaply to be used as a marketing tool to help an already established Industry like India and Mexico to
even improve their works even more whereas our industry is young and deserve an even better push
than what we enjoy currently.

Lots of activities happened at the press launch and executive premiere of the Kukesi Movie which
happened at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra on Tuesday 16 th October 2018 and event chaired by Mr
Socrate Sarfo Director, creative arts- National Commision on Culture who was vocal about how the
media and most Ghanaians often focus on negative aspects of films leaving the positives and to him that
is a killer of creativity and cautioned all present to desist from such acts. Also present were high
Dignitaries like Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie Former Deputy Minister Tourism, Culture and Creative
Arts who was the guest speaker on the day, she focused her speech on how great Ghanaian actors and
film makers are, and how we can use films to tell our stories in our own way that can sell us in a positive
way to the world, she stated that she was once the producer of by the fire side a program arranged to
help portray our culture which should tell how passionate she is in using such opportunities to help in
bringing back our values and putting Ghanaian movies on the Map. Tommy Annan Forson a veteran Ace
broadcaster was also among the dignitaries on the high table together with Mr Ken fiati spoke person of
Ghana Actors guild president and Mr Emmanuel France who played the lead role and recalled when he
used to write scripts for Osafo Dadzie but ended up being the first person to write script for the first
Nollywood film.

The Press Conference also gave opportunities to the actors to be introduced to the press and gave a
very clear direction of how the movies would be used to bring back our values and take Ghana movie to
the world. My personal observation of the entire program made me believe there is hope for our movie
industry if we make attempts to join hands in helping film makers bring out their full creativity like
Kukesi movie and film lovers can come through in their numbers to purchase tickets for the premier
then Ghana movies can compete fairly and conquer the world. PLEASE GET YOUR KUKESI TICKETS AND
