MP-Elect Ohene Kwame Frimpong Donates GHC 10,000 to Support Kantamanto Fire Victims

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the Member of Parliament-elect for Asante Akyem North, visited the Kantamanto Market on January 3, 2025, to offer support and solidarity to traders affected by the devastating fire that swept through the market on January 2, 2025.

The fire, which started in the early hours of Tuesday morning, destroyed over 100 shops in one of Africa’s largest secondhand clothing hubs, leaving traders grappling with significant losses. While no casualties were reported, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities are working to assess the extent of the damage.

During his visit, Frimpong empathised with the victims and assured them of his continued support. As an immediate intervention, he donated GHC 10,000 to assist those impacted and promised to return later with more support.

The MP-elect’s gesture was particularly significant to victims from his constituency, as he pledged ongoing assistance to help them rebuild their lives.

Meanwhile, affected traders have called on the government to expedite efforts to restore their livelihoods, as Kantamanto remains a critical economic hub for thousands in Ghana and beyond.

Ohene Kwame Frimpong’s swift response reflects his commitment to community welfare and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
