New Mobile App To Address ‘No Bed’ Situation And Health Facilities
Desiderata Information Systems Limited, an ICT service company based in Ghana is pleased to introduce a social entrepreneurship product called MedBeds.
MedBeds is an Android and IOS compatible mobile application which seeks to enhance visibility into healthcare facility resource tracking by healthcare workers, patients and the public generally.
Primarily, the app facilitates optimal allocation of beds, provides information on available practitioners and healthcare resources as well as promotes first aid through technology.
The intervention leads to shorter waiting periods for patients and lower rate of cancelled admissions while promoting information-sharing among practitioners and facilities.
After broad consultations with stakeholders ranging from medical practitioners, journalists, hospital administrators to other segments of the public, it became evident that the MedBeds App will be of enormous benefit for the general public and humanity.
MedBeds categorizes both facilities and patients into priority groups. This ensures that patient is informed on which facilities that are suitable for health conditions.
Using GPS and other third-party API, location of nearby registered health facilities within 2 kilometers is plotted and made visible to users in real time.
Through a maker-checker integrity model, bed and practitioner availability is shared with user to prompt a reservation.
Where applicable, first aid information is shared with user to administer while en route to facility.
The service is available globally and can be downloaded on Google Play Store or App Store.
We are in talks with telecom companies to whitelist or zero rate the App to enable users use the even when they don’t have data on their smartphones. Soon, MedBeds will be replicated via USSD for offline users in remote locations.
Desiderata will continue to engage stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement and functionality of MedBeds.
Download it from android playstore. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.medbeds
