Sixteen years after releasing one of the most iconic music videos of his career, Ghanaian musician Jay Ghartey has returned to Jamestown—the historic location where the magic of “My Lady” first came to life.
For months, fans had been urging the singer to reunite with Felivian, the model who starred alongside him in the beloved music video. Their requests did not go unheard.
A few weeks ago, Jay Ghartey invited Felivian to Accra, and together they revisited Jamestown, where most of the memorable scenes from the **”My Lady”** music video were filmed.
Reflecting on the original shoot, Jay Ghartey shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story in a video posted on his social media pages on Friday, July 10.
“The first time we came on set, she came with so much makeup and a beautiful weave on,” Jay Ghartey revealed in a video he shared on his social media pages on Friday, July 10.
He continued: “So my senior brother, Joe Ghartey, said we want her to be natural. We want school kids to relate to her. So, we asked her to remove her wig.”
Jay Ghartey also revealed that he had received hundreds of messages from fans asking him to reunite with Felivian, which ultimately inspired the reunion.
In the newly shared video, the pair recreated some of their memorable moments around the iconic Jamestown Lighthouse before ending the day with dinner together.
Released on December 25, 2009, the “My Lady” music video has remained one of Jay Ghartey’s most celebrated works. Directed by Phamous Film, the video has amassed more than half a million views on YouTube. It received several award nominations and won Best Music Video at the 2011 Ghana Music Awards.
The song appears on Jay Ghartey’s debut studio album, “Shining Gold.
The Ghanaian Afrobeats and highlife musician is now preparing for a musical comeback after a lengthy hiatus. His new single, “Party,” featuring King Paluta, has already had its official music video filmed and is currently in post-production. According to Jay Ghartey, the video will be released very soon.
