“VGMA” – The Cause Of Ghana “BET” Miss Out – Addi GoVnor – DancehallShella

Versatile reggae/afro  dancehall recording artiste, songwriter known by all musical circles as Addi GoVnor aka DancehallShella has voiced out his thoughts on why Ghana missed out in this years Black Entertainment Television awards (BET). The Dancehall act believes that the artiste of the year award which was given to the late Ebony Reigns is the cause of Ghana’s miss out in the BET.

According to him, the VGMA is the industry’s biggest award scheme and anyone awarded an overall artiste of the year automatically secures a slot in international scenes for possible international recognitions deem the industry.

In the case of this year’s, the over all artiste of the year was given to a ghost (Ebony) and as such, foreign award schemes find it difficult finalizing on who to represent the industry on international grounds. he said

In the past years we have seen the likes of Stonebwoy, Mzvee and the rest make it to the BET after securing major slots in local award schemes. How do we expect to make it to the BET if no living artiste in the entertainment industry deserved to be artiste of the year.

Even if Ebony was the only artiste qualifying for the artiste of the year award, we could have given it to the next possible winner just for the sake of securing international slots for our industry. He concluded. Artistes in this year’s Best International Act Category include: Booba (France),Cassper Nyovest (SA),Dadju (France),Davido (Nigeria),Distruction Boyz (SA),Fally Ipupa (DR Congo),J Hus (UK),Niska (France),Tiwa Savage (Nigeria),Stefflon Don (UK),Stormzy (UK)
